WHY INSULATE?

Insulating your home is one of the smartest investments you can make.

Insulation lowers energy expenses and keeps your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. The walls, ceiling and flooring of your house will let heat escape, either completely or partially, unless they are insulated.

If your home was built before or during the 1970s, it is highly unlikely that you have any insulation at all.

Additionally, having insulation has health benefits. The insulation reduces the amount of moisture in the air, making the air that you and your family breathe better. Treatment for respiratory conditions like asthma and others benefits from this.

Having adequate insulation also decrease your power bill.

Insulation can be used to lessen the use of fossil fuels, which increase the Green House Effect. These fuels include coal, oil, and natural gas. Made from recycled wool, wool insulation is another kind of insulation that is environmentally friendly.

Insulation is a great sound absorber and can assist in reducing noise in between rooms and floors or your home. This makes for more quiet environments in your home.

Ceiling and underfloor insulation has been compulsory in all rental homes since 1 July 2019. The healthy homes insulation standard builds on the current regulations and some existing insulation will need to be topped up or replaced.

Roof Insulation: The new R-value requirement for roof insulation is now a universal R6. 6 for all climate zones. This ensures that homes are well-protected against heat loss through the roof, regardless of their location.

Floor Insulation: The R-value requirements for floor insulation vary based on climate zones.
